Mauritius Equity Watch | 7 July 2015: Mauritius equity market turns green, SEMDEX 0.44% up, SEM10 37bps up but Market Cap MUR 40 Mill down
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity markets finished bullish at end of today’s training session. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) surged by 0.44 percent or 8.63 points to close 1,973.28 points and the SEM10 index climbed by 0.10 percent or 0.37 points to end at 374.09 points.
The market capitalization lost MUR 40 million to settle at MUR 218.385 billion (as against MUR 218.425 billion recorded at yesterday’s trading session). The overall total volume trade was recorded at 6.831 million with total valued traded at MUR 24.962 million, higher than previous trading session figures.
The most active traded securities were SBM Holdings Limited by exchanging 5.158 million stocks valued at MUR 4.549 million and New Mauritius Hotels registered 1.034 million right issues and 54,921 securities with MUR 1.006 million. CIEL Limited Mauritius had 204,200 traded stocks at MUR 1.465 million and GEMMA CIVIC Limited ended with a total volume of 116,200 at MUR 3.138 million.
The market sentiment/breath was positive, with 7 price gainers and 1 price loser. LOTTECH Limited was the lone loser, by losing about 0.39 percent to close at MUR 5.16. On the gainers’ region, PBL surged by 11.11 percent to trade at MUR 400.00 and SWAN General Limited climbed by 5.00 percent to trade at MUR 378.00. Also, Belle MARE Holding added 0.75 percent to close at MUR 27.00 and ROGER Limited went up by 0.67 percent to close at MUR 0.67. Also, CIEL Limited, closed at MUR 7.20, after gaining 0.56 percent.
The DEMEX index ended green, by adding 0.01 percent or 0.17 points to close at 206.95 points and market capitalization of MUR 49.185 billion, by gaining MUR 41 million from MUR 49.144 million recorded at previous trading session. Total value traded was MUR 6.337 million exchanged in 158,905 traded securities. SODIA gained 3.23 percent to trade at MUR 0.32 and CIEL Textile Limited closed at MUR 38.00, by adding 3.23 percent. On the other hand, Quality Beverage slumped by 3.03 percent to close at MUR 7.68.
